Vernon Township Appears To Be In A Quandry

Already reeling from what most would consider an innocuous Open Public Records Request, the township of Vernon would appear to have something to hide.  Sources inside the Vernon Township municipal building are continuing to discuss an Open Public Records Request (OPRA) that the mayor and those closest to him appear to not want to answer.

One source, on the condition that they remain anonymous, confirmed that the request was not responded to within the seven days as required by law.  This source claims to have knowledge that this is a concerted effort on behalf of the mayor, Mr. Marotta as well as the township attorney, Mr. Kelly, to try and thwart the efforts of the requester.  Neither source has identified the requester at this point.

Why would the mayor and township attorney, who is one of the main players in the Skylands Victory PAC be so afraid of the information requested?

Another source has confirmed that there will be changes in the township government by the end of the month.  One of the changes will involve the employment of a “double dipper”.  Are the changes related to the OPRA request?  Are the changes related to the Skylands Victory PAC?  Who will be the newly employed “Double Dipper”?

This morass continues to be at the center of what appears to be a very dysfunctional Vernon Township government.

Is the Skylands Victory PAC helping or hurting Vernon Township?
